Availability   Dave Iuli is currently listed Full Participant. The full picture, with who said what and when, is on the injury report.

Dave Iuli started all fifteen games in 2025 and then lost his job in the first game of 2026. Both of those are true, and neither is the end of it. He tore a triceps in the Peach Bowl on January 9, playing through it until he could not. He missed all of spring. By the opener he was healthy enough to be dressed and not healthy enough to start, so Michael Bennett III took right guard and played 49 of 64 snaps while Iuli got 15 in late relief. Then Bennett played one snap at Oklahoma State. Iuli played all 61, at right guard, and started there again against Portland State. The job is his again, and he is the only interior lineman on this team who has ever done it for a full season. See where the line stands.

I had a torn tricep and I was trying to play through it today. I felt something first half pop and tried to push through it and I couldn’t.

The Job He Lost And Took Back

Oregon published no depth chart before Week 1, so the first real information was the lineup itself: Michael Bennett III at right guard, Iuli not in it. Bennett had come from Yale, had never played a down for Oregon, and won the job outright. That is not a small thing to say about a returning starter with a full season behind him. Two weeks later in Stillwater, Bennett played one snap. Iuli played every one of Oregon’s 61 offensive plays, and the published starting lineup had him at right guard. He started there again against Portland State. Nobody announced any of this. It just happened, game to game, which is how most of an offensive line season actually goes.

What The Triceps Cost Him

He felt it pop in the first half of the Peach Bowl and kept playing until the third quarter, when Kawika Rogers replaced him. That was January 9. He missed the entire spring. Offensive line coach A’lique Terry said on the first day of fall camp that Iuli had done a phenomenal job in rehab and that he expected him to be around when it was time for ball to be played, which is a coach saying "he is not ready yet" in the most generous way available. The cost shows up in the order of events rather than in any stat line. A returning starter who misses spring and most of camp does not walk back into the lineup, and he did not.

What USC Showed

Oregon gained eleven total yards on its last three possessions at Oklahoma State after falling behind 36-31. At USC, Iuli was in the starting lineup again (official starting lineup), and the offense gained 504 yards and did not turn the ball over, with a backup quarterback for most of the night. How the interior graded individually waits for the snap counts and film, but the line in front of Raiola held up in the loudest building Oregon has played in this year. He is also the counterexample to the idea that the opener settled anything. Two weeks after losing a job he had held for a year, he had it back.

Watch List for 2026

1
Whether the interior holds up against a front that got four sacks out of Oklahoma State’s tackles
2
Communication with Laloulu on the road, which is where a veteran guard is worth the most
3
Whether Michael Bennett III gets any of the right guard work back

Frequently Asked Questions

Dave Iuli. He started at right guard at Oklahoma State on Sept 12 and against Portland State on Sept 18, after Michael Bennett III started there in the Sept 5 opener. Both Week 2 and Week 3 published starting lineups list Iuli at right guard. See the depth chart.

He tore a triceps in the Peach Bowl against Indiana on January 9, 2026, and said afterward that he felt it pop in the first half and tried to play through it. He missed all of spring practice and returned during fall camp. Oregon has not said whether it required surgery. See the injury tracker.

Nineteen through the end of 2025 by our count: four in 2024 and all fifteen in 2025, per his official Oregon bio. Oregon does not publish a career-starts total, so that figure is our arithmetic rather than an official number.

No. He signed with Oregon out of Puyallup High School in Washington in the 2022 class as a consensus four-star, choosing Oregon over USC and Miami, and has been in the program every year since.
