2027 Class Climbing 4-star LB Brandon Lockley Jr. committed Apr 26 over Alabama/LSU/Penn State, joining 5-star QB Will Mencl (Apr 22, No. 1 QB nationally) and 4-star S Semaj Stanford (Apr 23). Class is now 11 commits, No. 6 nationally per Rivals. Spring game recap →
The first class ranked #16. Lanning had been on the job for weeks. He inherited a roster and did what he could. By 2024, Oregon signed the #3 class nationally and the best in the Big Ten. By 2025, they had the highest rating-per-commit of any program in the country. By 2026, five five-star recruits, a program record. The gap between Oregon and the traditional recruiting powers (Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State) is gone. Five-stars are choosing Eugene. That was not true five years ago.
How the Classes Layer
The 2023 class brought Dante Moore. The 2024 class built the defensive depth that powered a 13-1 season: Elijah Rushing, Brayden Platt, Dylan Williams. The 2025 class stocked the receiver room with Dakorien Moore and Dallas Wilson after losing Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden, and locked down the cornerback pipeline with three of the nation's top eight CBs. The 2026 class fills the three open offensive line spots, adds the nation's top safety in Jett Washington, and gives Chris Hampton the edge rush depth he asked for. Each class is not just a ranking. It is a deliberate answer to the roster questions the previous season created.
Where It Still Needs Work
Offensive Line Depth
Three starters departed after 2025. The 2026 class added OL Immanuel Iheanacho (five-star), but freshmen rarely start on the line. The interior is thin until these recruits develop. Spring 2026 will reveal how fast they can close the gap.
Running Back
Oregon lost three scholarship backs to the portal after 2025. The transfer portal add of Simeon Price (Colorado) helps, but the backfield lacks proven depth behind the starters. This position group needs more investment.
Quarterback Pipeline
Dante Moore is the guy in 2026. Dylan Raiola (Nebraska transfer) is the heir in 2027. But behind them, there is no blue-chip high school QB signed for the future. If both Moore and Raiola leave after next year, the cupboard is bare.
Defensive Back Pipeline
Six DBs in the 2026 class. Three top-8 CBs in 2025. This is the deepest secondary talent Oregon has ever stockpiled. Hampton's defense will have options for years.
