Privacy Policy

What We Collect

If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address. If you submit a comment, we collect your name and comment text. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (see Analytics section below).

How We Use Your Email

Your email address is used only to send you The Quack Report newsletter. We will not sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any newsletter or contacting us.

Form Handling

Newsletter signups, comments, fan stories, predictions, and votes are processed by Netlify Forms. Netlify stores submissions securely. We retain form submissions for 90 days for moderation purposes and then delete them unless the content has been featured on the site with your permission. You can review Netlify's privacy policy for details on their data handling.

Fan Votes

Vote counts are stored in Firebase Realtime Database. Votes are anonymous. We do not collect personally identifiable information through the voting system. Vote data is aggregated (total counts per option) and displayed publicly on the site.

The Pokémon Lineup game saves your lineups in your own browser. When you post or share a lineup, the leaderboard stores an anonymous lineup code and a count in the same database. It holds no names, no accounts and no personal information.

Third-Party Services

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts and displays YouTube thumbnail images. YouTube videos are embedded using youtube-nocookie.com to reduce tracking. These services may collect standard web request data (IP address, browser type) as part of serving those resources. We do not control those services. The Apple Music embed on the homepage loads content from Apple's servers and is subject to Apple's privacy policy.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. Being straight with you about how it works: GA4 loads on every page as soon as the page loads. There is no cookie banner and nothing is gated behind a consent click, so if you are on the site, GA4 is running. If you would rather it did not, a tracker-blocking extension, a browser set to block third-party cookies, or Global Privacy Control will all stop it, and none of them break anything on this site. GA4 collects anonymized data including pages visited, time on site, and general geographic region. IP addresses are anonymized. You can also opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Cookies

This site uses cookies for Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, and localStorage for things that only matter in your own browser: which jerseys you voted for, your own record against our score predictions, form rate limiting, and a timestamp of your last visit so the site can mark what is new since you were here. The localStorage values never leave your device and we never see them. We run no advertising cookies and sell no data, but Clarity is a Microsoft product and Microsoft treats some of what it collects as advertising data, which is described in the Microsoft Clarity section below.

Photos

Photos on this site include fan-submitted images, press photos used for commentary/criticism under fair use, and images from official Oregon Athletics media. The fastest way to reach a human about any of this, including image credit or removal, is privacy@thequackreport.com, and it is read by the one person who runs this site. If you are a photographer and wish to receive credit or request removal of an image, please contact us.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your Rights

You may request deletion of your email address or any submitted content at any time. If you are in the EU (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have additional rights including access to, correction of, and deletion of your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Microsoft Clarity

Clarity also loads on every page with no consent step, the same as GA4. We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products and services. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products/services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud/security purposes, and advertising.
