Tommy Tofi is the other half of Oregon's offensive line solution. At 6-6, 330 pounds from Archbishop Riordan in San Francisco, he is a five-star interior lineman who enrolled early and is already practicing this spring. Unlike Iheanacho, who arrives in summer, Tofi has a head start. He has been in the weight room, learning the playbook, and going against Oregon's elite defensive line in practice every day since January. That head start matters. The offensive line needs answers by September, and Tofi is the early enrollee who could earn one of the starting spots through spring and fall camp.

The Early Enrollee Advantage

Tofi enrolled in January and has been practicing against Bear Alexander, A'Mauri Washington, and the best defensive line in the country every day. That is the fastest possible development path. Every rep against a 330-pound All-American DT is a rep that most freshmen do not get until fall camp. By the time fall arrives, Tofi will have six months in the system. That is the difference between a redshirt and a contributor.

The Rebuild

Oregon's offensive line lost three starters to the NFL. Iapani Laloulu returns at center and provides veteran leadership. The other four spots are open competitions. Tofi, Iheanacho, Koloi Keli, and returning depth players are all in the mix. The spring game on April 25 will be the first public look at how the new OL takes shape. Tofi's performance in that game will signal whether the rebuild is ahead of schedule or not.
