Fitzgerald's own verdict was that losing the turnover battle 3-0 to an explosive team does not give you a chance to win. Our defense does not need to make this game. It needs to take what Michigan State has been giving away.

Graduate kicker Liam Boyd is 9 of 11 with a long of 51, both misses were blocked 50-plus attempts, and his 31-yarder was Michigan State's only score at Wisconsin. He made five field goals in the opener against Toledo. Michigan State's drives have stalled past midfield (Fitzgerald said so himself), so Boyd is a big part of how they stay close.
