Kendre Harrison steps into a tight end room that just lost Kenyon Sadiq to the NFL Draft. Sadiq led all FBS tight ends in touchdowns in 2025 and ran a 4.39 forty at the Combine. Those are impossible shoes to fill immediately. But Harrison, at 6-7 and 243 pounds from Reidsville, North Carolina, has the frame and the five-star talent to grow into the role. He enrolled early and is practicing this spring. Drew Mehringer's offense runs through the tight end position. Harrison is the future of that role.

Why He Matters

Oregon just lost the best tight end in college football. Kenyon Sadiq's 51 catches, 560 yards, and 8 touchdowns in 2025 were irreplaceable in the short term. But Harrison represents the long-term answer. At 6-7, he changes the geometry of the red zone. Mehringer can use him as a mismatch in the seam, a blocker in the run game, and a target that corners cannot body. The development timeline is the question. Can he contribute in September? Probably in limited packages. Can he be the starter by November? That depends on spring.

The Sadiq Blueprint

Sadiq arrived as a four-star from Idaho Falls and developed into a first-round prospect over three years. He was not a day-one starter. Harrison has higher recruiting pedigree (five-star vs four-star) but will follow a similar development arc. The coaching staff has proven they can develop tight ends. Harrison just needs to trust the process.
