Anthony Jones Jr. arrived in Eugene as the #22 overall prospect in the 2026 class and the highest-rated edge rusher Oregon has ever signed. At 6-3, 240 pounds out of St. Paul's Episcopal in Mobile, Alabama, he brings SEC-caliber pass rush ability to a defensive line that is already the best in the country. He enrolled early and is practicing this spring behind Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti. The expectation is immediate rotational snaps. When Uiagalelei and Tuioti leave for the NFL, Jones becomes the guy. The pipeline does not stop.

Why He Matters

Oregon's defensive line depth is the program's greatest strength. Matayo Uiagalelei recorded 10.5 sacks in 2024 and 6.0 in 2025. Teitum Tuioti led the team with 9.5 sacks in 2025. Both are seniors in 2026. When they leave, Jones Jr. steps into the starting role with a full year of development in the system. Chris Hampton's defense is built on rotating fresh pass rushers. Jones gives him another weapon in that rotation immediately.

The Path

Jones chose Oregon over offers from across the country. The pitch was simple: come to a program where edge rushers develop into NFL first-round picks.
